October Update
Hello, since we haven’t posted a while, I figured I would give you an update on what’s going on. These are not finalized and are still being worked on.
- Some of you may have noticed you can log in using Google, and Facebook. Yes this does work and you can use it. However this will not work for our Single-Sign on yet (we’re working on it). If you’re already an existing user, you can switch to sign on using those as long as they use the same email.
- Two-Factor Authentication – Most of you have seen the “Please ignore the 2FA code unless you enabled 2FA on your account.” message when logging in. For those that don’t know what 2FA is here’s a brief overview:
- Two-Factor Authentication (also known as 2FA) adds an additional security layer to your account in addition to the password. This is a six digit number that is generated every 30 seconds using an app on your phone (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Etc… Any app that supports TOTP).
- To enable Two-Factor Authentication please go to – https://gamersarray.com/twofactorsetup/
- You can also access this by going to My Account > View Profile > Edit Profile > Two-Factor Authentication (at the bottom)
- If you lose your Two-Factor code you will need to submit a ticket at support.helpcomponline.com to recover your account.
- Single Sign On (SSO) – While MyExtraneous did have some basic version of this, there is now a language dedicated for this (called SAML – Security Assertion Markup Language). All of our services in the future will offer this. See below for what currently supports SSO.
- Our support platform (support.helpcomponline.com) – Click Log in, then click GamersArray
- Our bug reporting system (bugs.helpcomponline.com) – Click Log in, enter your username
- Web Application – We’re working on a new Channel Management that will work with mobile devices and tablets. Not only will this handle TeamSpeak, but it will also let us handle other services we may offer in the future.
- Unlike MyExtraneous, we’re not stopping development of the GamersArray Channel Management System. Why? See #4
- API – Unlike MyExtraneous which for a lack of a better term had horrible code, GamersArray and our Web App is designed around an API. Although the old API is only designed for GamersArray and ties in tightly with it, we can easily extend, remove, or modify code easily and switch to a newer API – which is what we’re doing. Both GamersArray and our new Web App (in #3) will use this new API. Not only that, we may release this API to the public so other people can use it.
- Music Bot – Don’t jump up and down just yet. This is only just a concept right now, and we may do nothing with it. We’re working on the base right now which will currently manage Asuna, and we will go from there. If we do continue this, it I do plan to have multiple instances (one for each channel). Although I may only allow premium channels to use the bot – It depends, i’m not sure right now. In the meantime, as always music bots are allowed and you can use them (but you’ll have to download and host your own).
- Some of you may be wondering why not use a bot that’s out there. Simple: Most only allow a set number of instances (1-3), we will require a lot more than that, and I don’t feel like paying some ridiculous amount. Not to mention there’s only one control interface so only I would be able to manage the bot. Since i’m not available 100% of the day this won’t work. Also most require using a much older client, which means it may not be able to connect to the server when we update.
Thank you all for being patient and sticking with us. Please spread the word of our TeamSpeak server. Our numbers have been dwindling. We’re still open, and are welcoming anyone (new or old)! If you have any questions feel free to send us an email (admin@helpcomponline.com) or open a support ticket (support.helpcomponline.com), or ask me (Superk) on TeamSpeak (i’m at the top).
